Photoshop has a wide variety of features. Some of its notable features include Photoshop layers, brushes, filters, the ability to create a number of different effects, and the ability to create 3D objects. I ran it on a fairly old MacBook Pro (i7, 8GB DDR3, 256GB SSD, OS X 10.10.5) and the latest version popped up in a split second, did its thing and promptly asked me if I was happy with its work. Lightroom 4 would keep stalling and stalling when working on large Photoshop files. It just would not move from its place. This is no longer a problem with Lightroom 5.

In either case, I received no response to my inquiry for this software to be as fast as Lightroom 4. On the contrary, I discovered that it is even a bit faster than that program. In my tests, Lightroom 5 starts downloading images slightly slower than Lightroom 4. However, once that is done it has moved on and is highly responsive when editing images on a MacBook Pro, where doing so requires the program to access your RAM (if you use a RAM-optimized file format of course). The performance issues mentioned earlier are not nearly as glaring. If Lightroom 5 didn’t start hopping faster, I’d simply not have noticed and worked just fine. That it does is a great improvement.

Lightroom automatically saves the files it has worked on, until it has saved them all or the program is shut down. Lightroom versions 4 and 5 behave the same way. Lightroom 6 is a pity to a certain degree, because the so-called Version History no longer shows images that are currently being worked on. Therefore, if you are working on images and read the update of some of them, you have no idea if you are working on one of the recently updated images or on some of the older ones. The Version History now shows older images as well so Lightroom 6 users won’t need to worry as much. Should one or two of your images be updated recently, Lightroom might be mistaken for having not yet finished work on them. Reviewing the Version History is a good thing in my opinion, so I suggest you to enable it.

In the future, this application will enable you to create content with mobile app-like editing tools. However, to start with, you can capture your image and then edit them using a “Photomator-like” interface. Further, you can combine multiple images and take screenshots.
